In a landmark event marking a milestone for the infrastructural landscape of India, Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi launched the “Gati Shakti – National Master Plan” for Multi-modal Connectivity, a 100 lakh crore national infrastructure project in October 2021.
Gati Shakti is a digital platform that will bring 16 Ministries including Railways and Roadways together for integrated planning and coordinated implementation of infrastructure connectivity projects.
It will provide integrated and seamless connectivity for the movement of people, goods, and services from one mode of transport to another. It will facilitate the last mile connectivity of infrastructure and also reduce travel time for people.
On March 9th 2022, PM Shri Narendra Modi has also launched the ‘PM GatiShakti – National Master Plan’ for multi-modal connectivity to economic zones in the country. The plan is an important part of Prime Minister Modi’s “Aatmanirbhar Bharat” vision and ambitiously aims to lend more power and speed to projects under the $1.5-trillion National Infrastructure Pipeline and boost the goal of achieving a $5-trillion economy, especially in wake of the recent economic impacts of the Covid-19 pandemic.
Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi said the “PM Gati Shakti” initiative will help in further developing modern infrastructure in the country through better coordination and monitoring.
Public-Private Partnership: A Key Driver of PM Gati Shakti Initiative
Minister of State for Finance Pankaj Chaudhary said Public-Private Partnership (PPP) proves to be the key driver of the ambitious PM Gati Shakti initiative.
Mr. Tribhuvan Darbari MD & CEO Texmaco Defence Systems, Chief Executive Texmaco Rail & Engineering and Chairman CII Sub-Committee on Defence and Aerospace (ER), said that PPP has given a strong push to growth. With close to 2000 PPP projects in various stages of implementation, India is one of the leading countries in terms of readiness for the involvement of PPPs in the country’s economic growth.
“PM Gati Shakti” initiative will help in further developing modern infrastructure in the country. The plan is focused on unified planning and implementation of infrastructure connectivity projects, which can be achieved feasibly through the Public-Private Partnership.
