DRDO submitted a list of 108 items to Defence Minister Rajnath Singh that have been identified for indigenous development. The list includes mini and micro UAVs, missile canisters, marine rocket launcher and satellite navigation receivers. The list includes mini and micro UAVs, ROVs, uncooled NV-IR sights for weapons (short-range), mountain footbridge, floating bridge (both metallic), mines laying and marking equipment, Armoured Engineering reconnaissance vehicle (AERV), Anti-terrorist vehicle, multispectral camouflage net, bulletproof vehicle, Missile canisters, marine rocket launcher, satellite navigation receivers, and TR modules, etc.
Mr. Rajnath Singh, Defence Minister of India extended his good wishes to Team DRDO in their future endeavors.
Mr. Tribhuvan Darbari – MD & CEO, Texmaco (Adventz Group) appreciated the move and congratulated DRDO for its historic move. Mr. Tribhuvan Darbari said that recently the government has bolstered its endeavors to encourage self-reliance in the defence sector and the initiative is in the same direction.
In his tweet after the meeting with the DRDO delegation, Defence minister Rajnath Singh said “This initiative will pave the way for the Indian Defence industry to develop many technologies towards building an AtmaNirbhar Bharat”.
Recently the Modi government had disclosed its plans to ban imports in the defence sector over the next five years, putting out a list of 101 items that would be manufactured within India by 2024. Mr. Rajnath Singh had also made it clear that the embargo on imports would kick in between 2020 and 2024.
