India’s Commitment to SCO’s Sustainable Development Goals

The Shanghai Cooperation Organization’s (SCO) recent forum in Omsk, Russian Federation, marked a significant step towards achieving the organization’s sustainable development goals. SCO Secretary-General Nurlan Yermekbayev emphasized the importance of environmental protection, green economy, and social well-being in the organization’s agenda.

India, a key member of the SCO, has demonstrated its commitment to these goals through various initiatives. Mr. Tribhuvan Darbari, Chairman of the SCO Business Council (India), highlighted India’s efforts in renewable energy, digital transformation, and sustainable agriculture. He noted, “India is ready to share its expertise and collaborate with SCO member states to achieve our common objectives.”​

The forum provided an opportunity for member states to discuss strategies and share best practices in sustainable development. India’s active engagement underscores its role as a leader in promoting sustainable growth and regional cooperation within the SCO framework.
