The Indian Railways, often referred to as the backbone of India’s transportation network, plays a crucial role in connecting people and goods across the vast subcontinent. Within this dynamic sector, Texmaco Rail & Engineering Ltd, a flagship company of the USD 3.5 Billion Adventz Group, stands tall as a leading provider of Heavy Engineering & Manufacturing solutions. With a strong commitment to technological advancements and sustainable practices, Texmaco Rail has been instrumental in driving growth, efficiency, and environmental responsibility in the Indian Rail sector.
Present Footprint and Projects:
(i) As a pioneer in Heavy Engineering & Manufacturing, Texmaco Rail & Engineering is involved in a diverse range of projects within the Indian Rail sector. From manufacturing Rolling Stock & Components such as Wagons, Coaches, EMUs, Loco shells & parts, to developing Hydro Mechanical Equipments, Steel Castings, Rail EPC/OHE, Bridges, and other steel structures, Texmaco has established a strong foothold in multiple segments of the rail industry.
(ii) Collaborations with renowned Multinationals from countries like Japan, U.S.A, U.K, Germany, Australia, Austria, and Holland have further expanded the company’s product portfolio, enabling Texmaco to stay at the forefront of cutting-edge rail technology.
(iii) Texmaco Rail’s recent milestone is securing a substantial order for 20,067 wagons valued at around INR 6,450 crores during the first quarter of FY’23. This achievement, the largest single wagon order ever released by the Indian Railways, is a testament to Texmaco’s capabilities and reputation in the industry.
(iv) With a robust order book close to ₹9,000 crore, the company remains optimistic about securing new global tenders and expects orders from the Indian Railways, which is planning to tender for approximately 50,000 wagons in the same year.
(v) The establishment of Texmaco Nymburk Rail Infra, a joint venture with Slovakian firm Nymburk, further strengthens the company’s position in the rolling stock and component business.
(vi) Anticipating a 30-35 per cent growth in overall business in 2023-24, Texmaco Rail aims to continue contributing significantly to the development and growth of the Indian rail sector.
(vii) As part of its visionary approach, Texmaco also aspires to diversify into passenger mobility, opening up new horizons for the company’s future expansion.
Decarbonization and Green Infrastructure:
India’s ambitious goal of making Indian Railways the world’s first net-zero emissions railway by 2030 presents enormous opportunities for sustainable infrastructure and environmentally responsible practices.
(i) To contribute to decarbonization, Texmaco Rail can explore renewable energy integration by installing solar panels along railway tracks and utilizing wind energy. Embracing hybrid locomotives powered by renewable sources can also reduce carbon emissions during train operations.
(ii) Energy efficiency measures, such as using energy-efficient lighting systems, optimizing HVAC, and employing smart energy management systems, can lead to significant reductions in energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions.
(iii) Transitioning from diesel-powered trains to electric trains can be a game-changer in decarbonizing the rail network. Electric trains produce zero tailpipe emissions and offer higher energy efficiency compared to traditional diesel locomotives.
(iv) Implementing green station concepts, incorporating sustainable design practices, and integrating renewable energy generation, rainwater harvesting, waste management, and green spaces can further enhance Texmaco Rail’s contribution to a decarbonized economy.
Adopting Cutting-edge Technologies:
(i) Texmaco Rail’s commitment to innovation is evident in its strategic focus on leveraging digital transformation, artificial intelligence, and cybersecurity to enhance network capacity, ensure safe train operations, and provide faster services.
(ii) The integration of Quantum Technology can optimize railway assets and improve train operations’ efficiency.
(iii) Data analytics can play a crucial role in asset management, train scheduling, resource allocation, and demand prediction, reducing congestion and minimizing delays.
(iv) The adoption of platform-based 3D technologies in rolling stock manufacturing enables precise modeling, simulation, analysis, and improvement of coach designs, resulting in improved efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
(v) Transitioning India’s signalling systems to a fully electronic system enhances safety, track capacity, train speed, and real-time updates to passengers.
(vi) The implementation of a Centralized Traffic Control system streamlines operations, ensuring safe and efficient train movements while enhancing track capacity and speed.
