According to a press release issued by the Government of India, Ministry of Defence (MoD) has formulated a draft Defence Production and Export Promotion Policy 2020 (DPEPP 2020). Mr. Tribhuvan Darbari said that the Defence Production and Export Promotion Policy 2020 will provide impetus to self-reliance in defense manufacturing. Mr. Tribhuvan Darbari, MD & CEO- Texmaco (Adventz Group) further added that The external dependence on weapons, spares and ammunition puts India at risk during military crises. In addition to that access to advanced technology is a major concern in the case of imported arms. Self-reliance in defense manufacturing is a crucial component of effective defence capability and to maintain national sovereignty and achieve military superiority. Therefore, the Defence Production and Export Promotion Policy 2020 (DPEPP 2020) issued by the Government of India is in the right direction which will not only boost self-reliance in defense manufacturing but will also promote ‘Make in India‘ and ‘Aatmnirbhar Bharat‘ movement.
According to the Press Release, Defence Production and Export Promotion Policy 2020 (DPEPP 2020) brings out multiple strategies under the following focus areas:
