The discussions followed the earlier dialogue of Hon’ble Railway Minister of India, Ashwini Vaishnaw, with Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexei Overchuk in June 2025, which emphasized strengthening cooperation in transport, connectivity, infrastructure, and rare earth metals.
Darbari’s engagement with Minister Nikitin focused on a wide spectrum of opportunities for modernization of Indian Railways and future-oriented transport & energy cooperation between the two nations. Key highlights of the discussions included:
Modernization of railway and transport systems through adoption of next-generation technologies.
Small Modular Nuclear Reactors (SMRs) as a pioneering clean energy solution for powering railways and industrial infrastructure—offering scalability, cost efficiency, and seamless integration with renewable sources.
AI-driven digital technologies for logistics optimization, predictive monitoring, and neutralizing emerging security threats across transport networks.
Green rail solutions and smart corridors to ensure sustainable, future-ready connectivity.
Speaking on the occasion, Darbari emphasized:
“Together, India and Russia hold the potential to redefine the next era of railway and transport innovation—from high-axle load freight wagons and high-speed corridors to digitally enabled, AI-driven, energy-efficient systems. This cooperation will not only transform connectivity but also reinforce our long-standing strategic partnership.”
